Anti-inflammatory diet

Creamy hot chocolate turmeric golden milk (dairy free)

This dairy free fusion of creamy hot chocolate and golden milk is delicious (you can’t taste the turmeric I promise!), plus its anti-inflammatory becasue of the turmeric. The coconut milk makes it creamy and rich and it also helps with absorption of turmeric powder as it contains healthy fat. A perfect warming drink recipe for winter or anytime you are craving it or needing an anti-inflammatory recipe!

Full disclosure: I made this anti-inflammatory drink while having period cramps and the comforting hot cocoa (which is said to be craved at this time as it has magnesium) with the turmeric were just the thing I was craving. Its a very enjoyable addition to any anti inflammatory diet plan and be sure to check out the anti inflammatory recipes in the menu if that’s what you need! More will be coming soon as it gets cold and we need warming foods.

Ingredients:

heaping 1 cup full fat coconut milk from a can (I tried to use both the solid cream part and the watery bottom part for the consistency I enjoy personally so its not too thick nor thin)

4-6 bsp cacao/cocoa powder (to taste)

1/6-1/4 tsp turmeric powder (based on how much you need that day, you can probably do more as needed and just use more sweetener and the larger amount of cocoa as needed to hide the taste)

several drops of vanilla stevia drops OR 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract plus 2 tbsp of maple syrup or coconut sugar (less or more to taste)

optional add ons: pinch of cinnamon and cardamom for a refreshing hot chocolate lassi taste

optional: top with coconut whip if desired

Directions:

place everything in a saucepan and warm for a few minutes, stirring to dissolve clumps. Serve hot and enjoy!

note: some say to combine turmeric powder with black pepper. I dont like black pepper in my cocoa sorry, I’d prefer to enjoy my cocoa and get the black pepper over a salad or sandwich along with it, but its your call!
