Turmeric golden milk latte with coconut milk

You may have already seen turmeric lattes being advertised at cafes. Well save the $7 on a Golden Spiced latte at a cafe and make a super healthy turmeric latte at home in under 5 minutes with ingredients you already have!

This Ayurvedic anti-inflammatory turmeric golden mylk recipe is made dairy free with coconut milk. Turmeric golden milk is sometimes referred to as liquid gold because of its colour and healing properties and health benefits. Great if you have a cold and need a hot beverage that’s anti-inflammatory or if you’re nursing an injury or dealing with period cramps. It’s a warming winter beverage thats surprisingly delicious and agreat addition to an anti inflammatory diet or New Year’s resolution of healthy recipes and smoothies- its just as or even healthier than a smoothie! And it’s easy and quick to make it as needed or ahead. It’s a Paleo, vegan, and low fodmap golden turmeric drink thats a super nutritious and wholesome addition for every diet.

Ingredients:

1 400ml can coconut milk, full fat to absorb the turmeric powder, skim off the oil at the top if you dont like it oily (or sub with almond milk for a thinner golden milk)

1 tsp turmeric powder, a little extra for more anti inflammatory benefits

pinch ground ginger, a second pinch for extra anti inflammatory benefits

1/3-1/2 tsp ground cinnnamon, to taste

1/3-1/2 tsp ground cardamom ( to taste, I love the almost mint like flavor of it that pairs perfectly with turmeric and ginger)

6-8 vanilla stevia drops or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and raw honey to taste ( I used the vanilla stevia drops plus a bit of maple syrup for best taste, keto use only stevia)

Some people add a pinch of black pepper for absorption, but I prefer to eat the black pepper separately in a salad or sandwich

Directions

Place everything except the raw honey in a small sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring, for a few minutes. Add raw honey, if using (it tastes best with raw honey or maple syrup), to sweetness preference, and adjust cardamom and cinnamon to taste.

Looking for more turmeric recipes and ways to add turmeric and curcumin to your diet? I actually like making a variation of this golden milk as turmeric oatmeal porridge, especially if fighting a cold and just craving a hot soothing breakfast with raw honey and turmeric. A surprisingly delicious hot breakfast and cold cure! Rolled oats or steel cut oats are great. Add raw honey once the cooking is done.
