make this oat milk recipe as an oat milk hot chocolate recipe or as a cold chocolate oat milk protein shake with banana, 2 in 1 recipes!
Oat milk is also a nice creamer option and oat milk froths well.
is oat milk good for you and healthy and is it healthier than other plant milks? well homemade oat milk is made just from oats, so its a plant-based, high-fibre carb thats fat-free, unlike healthy fat like coconut milk or protein like almonds. I like to incorporate protein powder to give it protein and make it even healthier.
ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats (if you cant have gluten use certified gf oats)
4 cups water
pinch sea salt
for an oat milk protein shake: , a scoop of chocolate protein powder+ a banana+optional spoon of mct oil
for oat milk hot chocolate: 2 tbsp. cacao powder or cocoa powder and maple syrup to taste
optional: 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, pinch of ground cardamom for lassi flavor, tsp mct oil for healthy fats
directions:
blend oats water and cocoa in a high speed blender then if desired strain through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth over a bowl to get smoother texture.
if making a protein shake re-blend with protein powder and a banana.
if making hot chocolate omit that step and just pour into a saucepan and warm. top with coconut whip.
enjoy inside coffee drinks and lattes, or blend with berries and protein powder for a plant-based shake.
