In quarantine many people are stuck on their own, cooking more for themselves and having to become more self-sufficient. This includes the elderly, and those who simply have a hard time opening stubborn jars due to arthritis, carpal tunnel, tendonitis or a wrist injury or hand injury. And people with weak wrists-like a lot of women 😛

This electric jar opener is a godsend for a lot of us and used regularly.

I bought my Robotwist two years ago following a wrist injury, to help me open stubborn jars. Since then my wrist has healed, but I still have used it regularly to open every jar of tomato sauce, applesauce, pickles, suerkraut, pesto, glass nutbutter jars, etc. So almost every week and it has opened even the most stubborn jar. It has held up well so far for two years and going.

I haven’t used it on easier-to-open plastic tubs of PB, I’m sure it would work, but it may dent the plastic lid a bit.

This electric jar opener, unlike a rubber jar opener (which is the second best option if you just need a little help with the grip not sliding) always gets the job done easily and is super easy to use. It takes about 15-20 second to open the jar. For older folks or seniors with hand problems, or anyone with weak hands this is time well spent, and injury-free. The electric jar opener I have and can stand by is Robotwist.

My only tip is don’t use it around glassware because the opened jar lid can go flying sometimes. No need to hover over it, it’s a hands free jar opener. Otherwise it is very safe and easy to use.
